What Affects the Price of a Jaw Crusher? 7 Factors Explained

29 Sep , 2026

Quick answer

Seven factors decide what a jaw crusher costs: the model and feed opening,
the manufacturing standard and materials, the wear parts specified, the
scope of supply, the quantity and line configuration, the trade term and
logistics, and the warranty and after-sales package. Two quotations that
look 30 percent apart are usually not the same machine at all — they are
different points on these seven axes. Understanding them is how you compare
quotes honestly.

Why we do not publish a price list

A jaw crusher is not a standard product with a fixed price. The same model
number can be built for a stone quarry in the Philippines or a gold mine in
Ghana, and the machine that arrives will differ in ways that matter. So
instead of a number you cannot use, here are the factors that actually move
it — and the questions to ask so you can compare apples to apples.

Factor 1: Model and feed opening

PE600x900 jaw crusher, the most common primary crushing model we supply
This is the largest single factor, and it is simple: bigger machine, higher
price. In our PE series the range runs from the PE150×250, a small unit for
laboratory or small-scale work, up to the PE1200×1500, a primary machine
with a 1,200 by 1,500 mm feed opening and a 100-tonne working weight.

Capacity scales non-linearly with size. A PE600×900 accepts lumps up to
500 mm and produces 50 to 180 t/h; a PE900×1200 accepts up to 750 mm and
produces 220 to 450 t/h. Doubling the capacity does not double the price —
but the structure, the bearings and the drive all step up with it.

Our European-type PEV seriesPEV European-version jaw crusher with modular bolted frame sits above the standard PE range: a modular,
bolted frame, a larger stroke and hydraulic adjustment. It costs more than
a comparable PE machine and is chosen when capacity, transportability or
setting accuracy justify it.

Factor 2: Manufacturing standard and materials

Two jaw crushers of the same size can differ by a wide margin in build
quality, and the price reflects it:

Frame construction Welded plate versus cast or modular bolted frame
Main shaft and Material grade and heat treatment — the parts
bearings that decide how long the machine lasts
Bearings Standard versus premium brand, sized for the load
Machining In-house CNC machining of the bore and seats versus
outsourced work with looser tolerances

This is also why we do not recommend buying on the lowest quote. The
savings usually come out of exactly the components that are hardest to see
and most expensive to replace.

Factor 3: Wear parts specified

The jaw plates are a recurring cost, not a one-off. The price of the
machine changes with:

Manganese content of the jaw plates (a 13% Mn plate and an 18% Mn
plate have different lives and different prices)
Whether the plates are smooth or toothed, and the tooth profile
Whether a spare set of plates is included in the initial order
Asking a supplier to list the wear parts and their expected life in tonnes
is one of the fastest ways to tell a serious quotation from a rough one.

Factor 4: Scope of supply

This is where most apples-to-oranges comparisons happen. “Jaw crusher
price” can mean several different things:

Bare machine only
Machine with electric motor and starter
Machine with motor, steel base frame and feed hopper
Complete primary station with feeder, grizzly, discharge conveyor and
steel structure
Complete crushing line, designed and supplied as an EPC package

A quotation that looks cheap is often quoting the bare machine, while the
one that looks expensive is quoting the primary station. Before comparing
two prices, confirm they cover the same list of items.

Factor 5: Quantity and line configuration

A single machine is priced differently from a two or three unit order
A complete line, with the jaw, cone, screens and conveyors designed as
one flowsheet, is priced as a system rather than as parts
EPC projects, including site survey, foundation design, installation
and commissioning, carry engineering and service value that a machine
price does not
If you plan to build a whole line, ask for it to be quoted as a line. Buying
stage by stage from different suppliers usually costs more once the stages
fail to match. If you are still choosing the right machine, our crusher
buying guide covers the selection steps in detail.

Factor 6: Trade term and logistics

The same machine has different prices under different Incoterms:

EXW You collect from the factory
FOB Delivered to the port and loaded on board
CIF Freight and insurance to your port included
DDP Delivered to your site, duties paid — the widest scope

A CIF price is naturally higher than an FOB price for the same machine, and
neither is “better” — they simply move the cost and the risk to different
points. Make sure any comparison states the Incoterm. A price without a
term is not a price.

Factor 7: Warranty and after-sales package

Finally, the price reflects what happens after the machine arrives:

Length of the warranty period and what it covers
Whether installation and commissioning supervision is included
Availability and lead time of spare parts
Whether operator training is provided
Response time for technical support
A longer warranty and on-site support cost the supplier money, and that
appears in the price. A machine with no support is not cheap if it stops.

How to compare two quotations properly

Ask each supplier for the same seven items, in writing:

Full model and specification sheet
Itemised scope of supply, including what is excluded
Wear parts list with expected life
Motor and control included, and their specification
Incoterm and what it includes
Delivery time and payment terms
Warranty period and after-sales scope
Compare on those seven, not on a single number. For a deeper walk-through of
reading a quotation line by line, see our guide to checking a crusher
quotation.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Why can’t you just send me a price for a jaw crusher?
A: Because the same model can be built to different standards and supplied
with very different scopes. Give us the model and scope you need and we
will quote precisely.

Q: Which factor affects the price the most?
A: Model size, followed by the manufacturing standard and the scope of
supply. Trade terms and logistics come next.

Q: Is a cheaper jaw crusher a bad machine?
A: Not necessarily, but if one quote is far below the others, find out where
the difference is — usually the steel, the bearings or the wear parts.

Q: How do I get an accurate quotation?
A: Send your material, feed size, target output, capacity and destination
port. With those, we can quote a specific configuration rather than a
range.

Get a quotation you can compare

Send us your material, maximum feed size, required output and destination
port, and we will send an itemised quotation covering all seven factors
above — so you can compare it properly against any other offer.
